The Pink House

There is a beachfront house a few blocks away from our house that has a book written about it. The book is entitled, appropriately enough, The Pink House, and is written by Kate Salley Palmer. The book tells the story of a family's day at Edisto Beach. We enjoy reading The Pink House to our children because they like to the hear the story about something that they know and can relate to. Kate Salley Palmer has also written several other books about the Palmetto State.

Here's the cover of the book, followed by a picture of the actual house.

We spent one week in this unkept cottage called The Pink House. Bedrooms yoou could not get around in, and had to crawl across bed downstairs. Only one closet to hang clothes upstairs and it was full of junk. Had to walk sideways to get in bathroom. Sinks fell loose from wall. No shades in upstairs bedroom. Bath tub was unlevel and rusty. Could see ground from bedroom floor, and a wasp flew in from the floor cracks. Downstairs two beds were pushed together in which they called this their king size beds. We called it our dungeon as it was so dark. Afraid to step in shower downstairs without flip flops. Dish washer had a very loud continuous grinding sound that drove us crazy and we had to go outside. We really thought Atwood Realty should have kept this cottage up much better. Guest had written their disappointment in this cottage as well as Atwood keeping it updated and clean. The sunpoarch was nice, but a comment was made about it looked like the seagulls had been flying in. There were great big holes in the screens. Also there was a tiny TV downstairs and none in the bedrooms. We hope whoever rents this place reads all the reviews they can before paying the big price for this rental.
